June 2009

Saturday, June 6 - Wilderness Road Park Trail Ride, Ewing, Va.

16 mile round trip on old rail bed.  See Buffalo and settlement @ Wilderness Road State Park.  Not much shade.  Riders will meet and leave from the Daniel Boone Travel Center in Duffield, Va. @ 9:30 am and haul to ride site.  For more information, please contact a member of our Trail Committee at the following link:  Scott County Regional Horse Association Committees.

  

Saturday, June 13 - Clinch Fest Horse Show - Starting time:  5 pm

Location:  Scott County Horse Park, Dungannon, Va.

Sunday, June 28 - Saturday, July 4 - Scott County Wagon Train 

Location:  Jarvis Vicars farm in Twin Springs

Those planning to camp will start setting up on Sunday.  The train will start riding on Monday.  The train will take a different route each day and return to the camp ground.  Pull out time will be approximately 10 am each day.  Come ride one day or camp the whole week.  Negative coggins required.  For more information, contact Wade White at (276)479-5013.

Saturday, August 15 - Rack-N-Roll Horse Show - Starting time:  6 pm

Location:  Scott County Horse Park, Dungannon, Va. 

This show will premier classes for the juvenile , plus include classes for the adults.  Check back soon for more information. 

 

Saturday, August 15 - Big Creek, NC Trail Ride 

Meet and leave from the Davy Crockett Truck Stop @ the Baileyton exit on I-81 @ 8 am sharp. Contact Ken Dye for details 423-357-9954.

Location:  High Knob area

Saturday, September 12 - Stanleytown to Maple Gap / Flannery Ridge Trail Ride

Several options for time and distance.  Gravel and forest service gated roads.  Good parking and primitive camping.  Leave from Rye Cove school @ 10:30am.  Bring grill and fixin’s for cooking out after the ride.  For more information, contact Charlie Green at (276)452-2396.

Thursday, Sept. 24 - Saturday, Sept. 26 - SHOBA Celebration Trail Ride

This ride is held at Big South Fork, north of Knoxville, TN. Need accurate count of people going and reservations early as they fill up quickly for this event. Contact Deetsie Vermillion @ 276-386-9548.

Saturday, October 3- Reasons for Riding Horse Show(formerly Riding for Hope)-Time: 3 pm

Location:  Scott County Horse Park, Dungannon, Va.

Saturday, October 17 - Hale's Lake Trail Ride in Smyth County, Va.

Sunday, October 25 - Mabe to Flannery and Pick Breeches Ridge Trail Ride

Approximately 6 hour ride.
