Updates & Information

  • (2018) You MUST show in a line class to show in the championship classes.

  • Once again in 2018 juveniles are offered the "Riding for the Green" participation program.  This program is meant to encourage more participation from our juveniles and will be based solely on each juvenile’s participation at SCRHA horse shows.   The placing in the class will NOT be considered.  At the awards banquet in early 2019, juveniles who have participated and did not win a class will be eligible to receive an award for "Ridin for the Green " (the regular high point winners will not be eligible for ridin for the green.)

SCRHA Fall Newsletter

Fall of the year is just around the corner and we only have a couple of more events at the Horse Park this year.  I want to thank everyone for their support this year.

We have one more regular horse show this year.  Riding for Reason will held on September 22, 2018 at 5:00 pm.  The next weekend switches over to the trails.  The ride will take place in Stanley Town.  The ride will go to Thunder Struck Knob and back.  If you want to have a picnic after the ride please bring whatever you want to eat with you.  A grill will be provided to cook on.  If you have any questions please contact Mr. Charlie Green @ 276-452-2396.  Anyone wishing to camp may do so at the horse park that weekend.

On October 26th and 27th is the show down for the year.  We will be having several different events at the horse park that weekend starting on Friday Night.  We have a Chili Cook Off set for Friday Night at 6 pm with the winner receiving $100 cash.  Please call or message Kathy Givens (423-502-0138) if you plan to participate.  After the judging the Association will be selling the chili as a fund raiser.  Please bring your best chili who knows you might take that cash home with you.  The only thing we ask is to list the ingredients in the chili in case someone is allergic to an ingredient.  Don’t need to know any amounts of the ingredients.  We will have a fun show starting at 7 pm on Friday.  Dress as you wish for this show.  We have some special events on the program.  Hope lots of you will participate so everyone can have a good time.  We will have a Halloween Costume Class so get your best costumes ready to go.  Last but not lease we are going to do a few rounds of cake walks.  All the cakes will be homemade so wear your walking shoes.  Saturday will kick off at 11am with a riders meeting for the straight away events.   Everyone come out and support the SCRHA for their final show and events for the year.

Mountain Madness T-Shirts are being sold so if you would like to purchase one please contact Jackie Wampler 423-579-6820.  The shirts come in a variety colors and sizes.  All shirts need to be pre-ordered so you will be sure to get what you want.  Will not be ordering extra shirts.  Place your orders now.

If you plan to camp out with us please call and make your reservations ASAP camp sites are filling up fast.  We will have vegetable beef soup, chili and soup beans for concessions at this event.  We will also have homemade desserts.  Come hungry we will fill you up.
